Just finished Steins;Gate ... started pretty slow and took me a while to actually finish the series. After I finally made it past episode 7 or so, it took me about 2 days to finish. I couldn't stop until it was over. I have a large ongoing list of what I've watched and plan to watch over at myanimelist.net www.myanimelist.net/animelist/stargaze2

I remember I attempted the first episode or 2 of Steins Gate a couple years ago... seemed so dull that I didn't want to continue. Maybe I'll revisit it but I hate shows that take multiple episodes to get going >:
Takes too much time to find those shows that are really captivating ... so nowadays I only continue to watch 3 anime: Naruto, Fairy Tail, and One Piece ... because they're still ongoing since they got me hooked many years ago

It is definitely worth revisiting. It is ranked REALLY high on some websites, so I told myself I couldn't give up on it. It took literally months to just get thru 7 episodes. Somewhere between episode 7 and 10, you'll find yourself on a must-watch-anime marathon till it's over.
Lately, I've put anime on hold, but I've found some new shows to watch that were recommended by friends. I try to watch all of my shows in Japanese if possible. I watched my first series in Japanese with English subs when I discovered Naruto in 2004. They had around 70 episodes then. I loved watching it, didn't matter the quality, just had to watch it! Before Naruto, I did watch a few series in English. Some are worth watching in English, like Trigun/Cowboy Bebop/DBZ, how can you not appreciate Steve Blum ^^ however, I noticed how bad English dubs can be with shows like Inuyasha. After discovering how good Naruto was in Japanese, when I heard the English version, it was like nails on a chalk board haha. Inuyasha is much better in Japanese too imo... same with shows like Getbackers. OMG when I hear that shrill whiny american voice, it drives me nuts. Not sure why it works better in Japanese but my guess is the voice acting is just better. dunno... Listen to the first 5 minutes of Getbackers ep 1... in English, it is incredibly painful. lol

Right now I'm watching The Seven Deadly Sins (Nanatsu no Taizai). It's pretty good if you enjoy the supernatural and lots of action, with some humor to spare. To give a brief description: The "Seven Deadly Sins," a group of "evil" knights who conspired to overthrow the kingdom of Britannia, were said to have been eradicated by the Holy Knights. Ten years later, the Holy Knights stage a coup d'état and assassinate the king, becoming the new, tyrannical rulers of the kingdom. Elizabeth, the king's third daughter, sets out on a journey to find the "Seven Deadly Sins" and seek their help in restoring the kingdom. It's up to episode 24, but I'm not sure if it will continue much more. The manga is further ahead and I hope the anime follows the manga and doesn't just end prematurely. kissanime.com/Anime/The-Seven-Deadly-Sins

I've always enjoy shows and works relating to Arthurian legend (which seems to be pretty popular in Japan), such as the Fate series. "Nanatsu no Taizai" seems to be another, although it warps it even more. I've watched the first few episodes, I gotta say the girl interactions and personalities are pretty outrageous. But hey, I guess even shounen anime nowadays need a few dumb **** to satisfy the viewers. I'm curious about how it plays out so I will continue watching.
Edit: Whoa, some of the armors and abilities are cringeworthy lol...

cringeworthy meaning bad? I was pretty disappointed with Claymore anime because it ended prematurely, would rather not be disappointed with another anime. The manga was great though... sad it ended, but was great nonetheless

The main character, Meliodas (Sin of Wrath), is a pervert and I was surprised to see that his outrageous behavior (lots of inappropriate touching) is actually allowed. Usually you see the female beating up the male just for a nudge or a glance. The series isn't really anything special but I'm not so sensitive to call it cringeworthy though. The abilities and powers are what you would expect from a typical shounen series. The refreshing thing about this series, though, is that the main group (Seven Sins) are actually quite strong and don't really need "development" or sudden bursts of empowerment to win battles, although inevitably that does occur sometimes. And in particular, Meliodas isn't the typical innocent, ignorant and rash protagonist (e.g. Natsu, Naruto, Luffy...) but he's quite confident in his abilities for good reason and knows his limits. Of course the same old "protect the maiden/weak woman" concept might turn some people off, but given the setting and genre, it only makes sense.

Cringeworthy doesn't mean "bad" but it will sure raise some eyebrows for older viewers. Most of them were alright, just the oddball here and there . Of course, the "weak woman" doesn't always stay that way, as is the case in most shows. The anime only shows one arc, but there is enough closure for it to be a standalone season. There's still quite a few unanswered questions and much more to the adventure so I assume there'll be more seasons to come. I enjoyed it overall and will put manga on to-read list. Got any other recommendations related to Arthurian legend or similar mythology?

If you're referring to the manga, then yes. The anime is a brief (although quite well-executed) series and if you want the whole story with many other characters and greater plot development, then you would have to read the manga. However, the manga is horrendously slow at releasing new chapters (at best there's one chapter released a month) but maybe there are more chapters if you look hard enough (there are probably many untranslated chapters that have yet to be scanlated and reach popular manga sites). I really hate reading hundreds of chapters at once and then stopping abruptly but that's how it is with these series (to give other examples: Vagabond, Kingdom).

was hoping the anime was complete at least as much as possible. it had left off with an abrupt ending. will have to pickup the manga... just from what I remember, not something i can read at work. I managed to read Claymore, but even that was risky.
I picked up nanatsu no taizai - the seven deadly sins. I like it ~
